Stuck on the marketing magic roundabout

More than half of marketing teams were reorganised in the past 12 months, according to Marketing Week’s 2025 Career & Salary Survey. In fact, restructures are now at a three-year high.

Does anyone really think things are going to calm down from here?

One minute it’s a centre of excellence. Then it’s fully embedded. Then it’s hybrid-but-not-really. Then someone invents a ‘platform team” because the last three didn’t fix anything.

But none of the underlying decisions really change:
how work flows,
who actually owns what,
how priorities get made,
and how the business sets expectations.

Being in permanent re-org mode is just spinning around and around on the Magic Roundabout. Without a sick bag.
